IBEW LOCAL UNION 1357

Dear Friends,
IBEW Local Union 1357 recently ratified a new 3 year agreement with Hawaiian Telcom. Just like our brothers and sisters in Saipan the existing work force was able maintain their current level of benefits and get a General Wage Increase of 2%, 1.5%, 1.5%. Again, given the toughest economic conditions since the great depression we were able to get a fair settlement for our members.
Brothers and sisters it continues to be difficult for all of us these days just to try and make ends meet. Brother Ray Tenorio has been working hard to keep the Unit together but he needs your help. We are currently trying to get permission to hold our meetings at the Company prior to members start work time. The issues we are currently working on are: Delays in the Pension settlement, Performance/Incentive plans, getting PTI employees to join the Union and other bargaining issues.
Now that bargaining is settled with both Companies we can intensify our focus on members issues. Please support brother Tenorio in spreading the word of the Union and help us strengthen our commitment to one another. Lets not forget to vote this Tuesday and lets start getting rid of the free riders by voting for labor friendly officials.
We hope to join our brothers and sisters in Saipan in December.
Please forward us any concerns.
God Bless you all, Scotty
