Saipan members ratify new CBAIn what can only be described as one of the worst financial times in the history of the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), Unit 10 members have unanimously ratified a 4-year Collective Bargaining Agreement with Pacific Telecommunications, Inc. (PTI). Highlights of the negotiated contract are: · Changing from 3 Personal Holidays to 3 fixed holidays · Improvements to employees’ 401k plan · Wage increases of 3% in ‘08, 3% in ‘09, 2% in ‘10, and 2% in ‘11 · A commitment from the employer to provide Job Security for 4 years. Under the leadership of Shop Stewards Ray “Taya-Fear” Tenorio and Fedora Camacho, the Union was able to secure the new 4-year Agreement and correct some ongoing workplace problems. The current Collective Bargaining Agreement expires in January of 2008. IBEW Local Union 1357 members continue to enjoy some of the best health and welfare benefits in the CNMI. This is the result of their hard work and continued commitment to being a dedicated, responsible and elite workforce.
